"THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK" TOY COMIC BOOK AD

The picture in this ad is similar to the great one found in The Heroes World Catalog. They left out hooded Darth Vader, but yellow Hammerhead and that silly looking Walrus Man make up for it.

I've seen worse pictures, don't get me wrong, but keep in mind that this ad is from Fantastic Four issue 222, cover date September 1980. It isn't 1978 or anything, y'think they could get a few things straight. For example, R5-D4 (or "R5-D-4" as they call him) doesn't have two legs and feet like this...

The X-Wing fighter's missing a wing! Whoever's piloting that thing is a brave one. I guess you'd call that a Y-Wing... but then what do you call the ship to the far right?

And y'know what else they got wrong...? Han's name. Yep, they're still calling him Hans Solo! Poor Corellian...

This ad is by the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art Inc. for Heroes World. Man, they put out all the funny ads back then, didn't they?
