"NEW STAR WARS ACTION FIGURES" COMIC BOOK AD

Here's a Star Wars action figures advertisement you can find in old comic books. This particular one was found in Marvel Comics' Shogun Warriors issue 6 from July 1979. I know it's also in Fantastic Four issue 208 from July 1979. There's no date in the ad itself, though.

Whenever I find an ad like this, I check to see if they get Han's name right. Well, they didn't. This is Hans Solo, and he's pleased to meet you.

It's really satisfying seeing Star Wars being caught in its strangest. I mean, just look at that Tusken Raider wearing that silly blue getup.

Most of the drawn pictures are clearly based off the Kenner figures, which makes sense for an action figure ad...

...but it looks like they were feeling a little creative with a few of them.

The page advertises figures of Vader, Hammerhead, Snaggletooth, Sand Person, X-Wing Luke, Jawa, Walrus-Man, Death Squad Commander, Greedo, R5-D4, Power Droid, R2-D2, Chewie, Luke, Leia, Ben, "C3-PO", and of course "Hans". They're only $2.99 each or four for $10.99! Where's a time machine when ya need it? They also show the collector's case that "holds up to 24 Star Wars mini-action figures". The TIE Fighter's there too, along with the X-Wing and Land Speeder.
