ROBOTS SPACEBOT FIGURES

These figures have been packed on at least eight different cardbacks, it's crazy. I found these two with Robots Spacebot cardbacks at a KB Toys store that was going out of business, I'm pretty sure it was late 2009 or early 2010. They both have sounds, light up eyes, and a glowing sword. A glowing sword? Boy, I wonder where they got that idea.

Not only do they come with lightsabers, but they resemble Darth Vader, too! The sword glows blue while the eyes blink red. The sound effects are random laser blasts and such noises that last about thirteen seconds.

These were made by FunTastic, whose slogan it seems is printed in the bottom right corner of the card: Fun up to fun down! It also says, "2 COLORS AVAILABLE", so we know there's only the black and white ones on this version of the card.

The back of the card is a whole lotta nothing. It's solid white with a circle cut out so you can pull out the "activation tab" and initiate the sound and lights button on the front of the figure.

There's many versions of both the black and the white one. They came on nearly identical cards as the one shown above, but the very top of the card is different, most notably the word "ROBOTS" is smaller and placed in the top left.

These figures were also packaged on a "SPACE KNIGHT" card. The Space Knight logo even has two illustrated lightsabers in it. The obvious thing to make fun of when you see the card is the exclamation "GLOW SWORD AND TWINKLE EYES". Why, I ask you, why would someone write twinkle eyes instead of laser vision, blaster eyes, or anything else? Either they aren't familiar with the English language or they're just trying to be silly.

I've seen a photo of the black spacebot figure packed on a "Fighter Space" card. There's another character in the set: a Terminator from the film series of the same name.

There's three different "SPACE DEFENDER POSABLE FIGURE" cards. Two have a logo that's written in a Times New Roman kind of font, more "fancy" than "space-adventure-like". One of these cards show a close-up of the figure's head at the top left of the card. The second of the two "fancy" logo cards shows some random, menacing looking robot head in the top left of the card (and I've seen a generic green and a generic yellow robot packed on this version of the card). The third "SPACE DEFENDER POSABLE FIGURE" card has a cool, purple and orange logo in a more exciting font. The card has a spaceship in the top right corner.

Believe it or not that's not all! There's another card that shows a logo of some sort at the top left with the title ALIEN TERMINATORS to the right. Behind the words is an some kind of eclipse thingy and there's a close-up of a planet at the bottom. There's also a photo of the black Vader wannabe showing off his saber. There's a warning at the bottom, but it's not talking about choking hazards or age limits. It cautions, "WARNING! THEY ARE OUT THERE... WATCHING... YOU!" Whoa, wait, what? Why are they doing that? Who are you working for, Alien Terminators? What do you want with me?!?

There's no telling how many more cards these guys will turn up on. Maybe one of them will actually resemble a Star Wars cardback!
